Our Story

“Everything we’ve talked about doing we’ve managed to realise together, as a collaborative force”

Tom, Co-founder of Lisboa Social Press

An extract from A Little Press Conversation by Overland Original

Lisboa Social Press was founded by Jilly Roberts and Tom Maryniak on the principle that everybody has creative potential within them and that creativity should be accessible to all.

Since 2018 we’ve been hosting in-person and online workshops from our Lisbon studio and priding ourselves on continually constructing creative formulas that allow anybody from seasoned artists exploring new mediums, to those who haven’t drawn since school, to rediscover their inner creative, indulge in happy accidents and embrace the freedom to experiment with their artistry.

“There’s something incredibly inspiring about bringing artistic joy back into people’s lives, opening up creative valves that may not have been accessed since childhood. Often people are sceptical at the start of our sessions, saying things like “I can’t draw” and “I’m not a creative person”, and so to have those people laughing and letting loose by the end, all their inhibitions gone, I know we’ve done a good job and it makes what we do all the more rewarding.”

“There are no art critics here, Tom and I believe that there is no such thing as a perfect outcome. Lisboa Social Press is about fun and connecting through making by allowing the participants to tune in to their creative selves.”
